Chandrawinata has worked on three films, all of which are anchored in stories about the environment. In the award-winning The Mirror Never Lies (2011), on which she was a producer, the story follows a young girl from the Bajau ethnic group—known to be sea nomads—who lost her father at sea and tries to use mirrors to search for him. 

In 2015’s Sagarmatha, Chandrawinata starred as Shila, who embarks on an adventure with her best friend Kirana to Sagarmatha, a national park in Nepal that's home to Mount Everest, to fulfil their promise to each other of climbing the world’s tallest mountain. 

In her latest film, Labuan Hati (2017), she played a character who chooses Labuan Bajo, home to the Komodo dragon, as a final dive spot before she gets married.

Chandrawinata has been diving since 2006 and has explored numerous waters since, including those of Iceland, New Zealand and all across Indonesia. She often shares her ocean adventures with her 1.9 million followers on Instagram, and counts Indonesia's Raja Ampat islands as one of her favourite places to visit; pre-pandemic, she’d visit the archipelago and stay for at least two months. Her favourite dive spots there include The Passage, Blue Magic and Manta Sandy.

Born to a German mother and Javanese-Chinese father in Hannover, Germany, Chandrawinata has younger twin brothers, both of whom are also actors. Three years ago, she married fellow actor Dimas Anggara. The couple are now expecting their first child together.
