From entrepreneurs to musicians, guests gathered at Montblanc’s store at Marina Bay Sands on October 12 to learn the art of poetry writing

A haiku, rhyming couplet and cinquain were the three poetic forms that guests learned at a poetry writing workshop organised by Montblanc and Tatler Gen.T.

Guided by award-winning Singaporean poet Joshua Ip and armed with a fountain pen and notepad, guests scribbled their short poems over a span of an hour, describing everything from the night sky to regrets and the St Regis.

Many were new to poetry writing, but some like pianist Li Churen drew on their personal experiences to guide them through.

At the end of the workshop, a calligrapher helped to transform their favourite piece into beautiful writing as a keepsake.

The event was held at the Montblanc store at Marina Bay Sands, with guests surrounded by the brand’s most exquisite writing instruments, such as the Meisterstück collection, leather goods and accessories.

Benjamin Goh, the brand’s marketing and communications director in Singapore, also shared with guests about Montblanc’s Library Spirit campaign, which celebrates the inspirational power of libraries as literary spaces that embody the diverse identities of a city.
