Pirata Group hops on the Nikkei cuisine train with their latest Central opening

Part of the Pirata Group, Tokyolima serves up Nikkei cuisine—a blend of Japanese and Peruvian influences that remains rather underrepresented in Hong Kong’s dining scene. The menu offers plenty of choice encompassing ceviches, tiraditos, sushi rolls, grilled skewers and larger mains; fresh seafood is a particular focus. The drinks menu also covers all bases, with ample by-the-glass wines, cocktails and speciality sakes. Staff are friendly but struggle to cope with a busy service—dishes are slow to arrive and barely warm when they do, and we are given the wrong table’s bill. Nevertheless, with its dimly lit, buzzy izakaya vibe and good-value brunch sets, it’s no surprise that Tokyolima is a popular pick for group dining.
