The Pelican (Closed)

Western   |   $ $ $ $   |   Marina Bay

On the waterfront of Marina Bay, this seafood joint certainly pulls in the foot traffic. The interiors have a vague nautical theme—with jars of shells on a central countertop and whimsical seahorse sculptures hung on the walls—but the square gold wall tiles, butterscotch-coloured banquettes, handsome bar and intimate upstairs seating section are sure to temper any full-blown naval aspirations. The food focuses on surf and turf, including a grilled seafood platter of whole barramundi, baked mussels, squid, tiger prawns, grilled corn and tomatoes that’s large enough for a trio to share. The lobster burger is generously heaped with tail and claw, served on a brioche bun; in fact, friendly portions abound in dishes here, from the mounds of parmesan in the chilli cheese corn to the hefty scoops of ice cream in the desserts.

Tatler Tip

Come for lunch—the $38 set menu is a steal, comprising an appetiser, main and dessert. If you’re here for dinner, arrive a little early and have a drink at the outdoor seating area overlooking Marina Bay.
