The Lounge & Bar

The food at The Ritz-Carlton’s all-day dining restaurant gives its breathtaking views a run for its money

It is all too easy for a restaurant with one of the best views of Hong Kong to take a backseat and survive on that asset alone. This is not the case at The Ritz-Carlton’s sky-high Lounge & Bar, where the food is worthy of its own honourable mention. At 102 levels up in the sky, the all-day dining restaurant frequented by businessmen and ladies who lunch sets the stage with cosy booth seating facing the city’s picturesque harbour, distracting attention away from the glitzy ceiling fixtures and borderline excessive decor. While the restaurant is popular for its afternoon tea, its à la carte menu is equally as impressive, covering a diverse range of café staples such as club sandwiches and Caesar salad, as well as international specialities that include an excellently tender Thai-style roasted beef salad. Helpful service staff are familiar with the menu, and do take their word if they recommend the steak tartare, which is prepared tableside according to your taste. Pair the generous portion of meat with a wine from the extensive list, and end the meal with the rich chocolate Ritz-Carlton cake, which certainly earns the right to carry the prestigious hotel’s name.
