The Chairman And Belon soar high into top five of the annual restaurant list

The annual Asia’s 50 Best Restaurant Award rankings are in, and Singapore’s Odette kept its reign at number one. A total of ten Hong Kong and Macau restaurants made the annual top 50 list, including The Chairman and Belon who made the top 5.

The annual announcement was broadcasted live through online streaming due to the cancellation of the event in Saga, Japan. The Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants are voted and ranked by a panel of over 300 individuals from media, chefs and restaurateurs. This year, eight Hong Kong restaurants and two from Macau made the annual announcement. Tatler Dining Top 20 Restaurant award recipient The Chairman rose to second place, the highest placement in Hong Kong, followed by Daniel Calvert’s Belon at fourth place. Vicky Cheng’s VEA ranked 12th, while David Lai’s Neighborhood rose to 19th, rounding up the top twenty restaurants in this year’s selection. Esteemed Cantonese restaurant Seventh Son claimed 25th while Richard Ekkebus’ Amber ranked 31st on the list. The restaurant also won this year’s Best Sustainability Award, followed by 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo at 32nd and Four Seasons’ Lung King Heen at 33rd, rounding off Hong Kong’s entries this year.

Macau has garnered raves this year with two restaurants on the Asia’s 50 Best selections. Chef Tam Kwok Fung’s Wing Lei Palace claimed 22nd on the list, while Andre Chiang’s Sichuan Moon not only ranked 23rd but was also this year’s winner with the highest ranking in the “New entry restaurant in the region” category.
