Asia Tatler Dining recommends the best restaurants to pop the question in

This year's Hong Kong and Macau Best Restaurants 2011 included a new section where we listed a dozen categories that Asia Tatler Dining felt that restaurants particularly excelled in. These included Best for Tourists; Best 2010 Openings; Best for Wine-Lovers; just to name a few. As romance is undeniably in the air this week as everyone starts to make plans for Valentine's day, here is a sneak peek of our Best for Proposals winners.

Gaddi's

Not only does Gaddi's offer up some of the best French cuisine in Hong Kong, but as it is one of the last fine dining restaurants to enforce a strict dress code, you will have all the more reason to get dressed up in your best tuxedo, drop to one knee and pop the question. And when she says yes, be sure to have requested the live band to play your song in advance.

Petrus

What is it about French cuisine that screams romance? It must be something about the sheer decadence and luxury of it all. Another one of our recommended spots to propose to your beloved is Petrus, perched on top of the Island Shangri-La. With their old fashioned chandeliers, opulent artwork to absolutely stunning views of Hong Kong harbour, it provides the perfect backdrop for you to begin the rest of your lives together. Also, the restaurant has two private rooms for those who are not entirely sure how she will react.

Verandah

With its lazy ceiling fans, colonial architecture and ocean side location, Verandah is already one of the most popular wedding locations in Hong Kong. So what better place to get your intended in the mood? We're pretty sure that the tableside service and good old-fashioned delicious Continental cuisine including indulgent treats such as tournedos Rossini, will entice her to put on that ring you've hidden in the seafood platter.
