Inspired by tasty Italian treats, the following drink and dessert pairings evoke "travelling across Italy," enthuses Nathalie Arbefeuille, head chef and owner of Nathalie Gourmet Studio and a Nespresso Club Member.

"The combination of flavours mirror each other so well," adds Carey Ng, former Miss Malaysia and Miss Universe. "I would say it's a very warm and welcoming combination."

Art imitates life in Arbefeuille’s Hazelnut Praliné Rocks, Crumble and Sponge Cake and Chocolate Coulis, a dessert mimicking earth, mushrooms and moss-covered pebbles. Its lifelike aesthetics are guaranteed to impress guests whom you're entertaining at home.
 
The second dessert, an Amaretti Success Cake, proves that Nespresso coffee isn't just for pairing with food, but is also ideal for incorporating in dishes. The chef pops a Variations Italia Amaretti capsule into her Nespresso machine before pouring the single shot of espresso over the almond treat.

Nespresso Variations Italia Recipes

Cappuccino Amamisù

Ingredients

• Variations Italia Amaretti Flavour (40ml)
• Cold full fat cream (100ml)
• Almond syrup (5ml)
• Dark chocolate (1 square or 5g)
• Cold semi-skimmed cow’s milk (100ml)

Instructions

  1. Place 1 square of dark chocolate and 5ml of almond syrup in a View Cappuccino cup and brew 1 capsule of Variations Italia Amaretti Flavour over it.
  2. Pour the cold cream in the jug of your Nespresso Barista device up to the lower level mark.
  3. Close the lid, choose the “Espresso con Panna” setting.
  4. With a non-metallic spoon, collect and pour the cold whipped cream on top of the coffee.
  5. Wash the jug and cool.
  6. Pour the cold milk in the jug, up to the lower level mark.
  7. Close the lid, now select the “Cappuccino” setting.
  8. Pour half of the hot milk foam on top of the whipped cream.
  9. Sprinkle cocoa powder over it, and serve with a Boudoir biscuit.

Torta di Nocciole al Bicerin

Ingredients

• Variations Italia Torta di Nocciole Flavour (40ml)
• Dark chocolate (6 squares or 30g)
• Cold full fat cream (160ml)
• Cold semi-skimmed cow’s milk (20ml)
• Fresh hazelnuts (5g)
• Cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Add 6 squares of Dark Chocolate in your Nespresso Barista jug.
  2. Pour 60ml of cream and 20ml of milk in the jug.
  3. Close the lid, select the “Hot Chocolate” setting.
  4. Pour the mixture equally into 2 View Lungo cups or Reveal Lungo glasses.
  5. Brew a capsule of Variations Italia Torta di Nocciole Flavour over the mixture and mix.
  6. Wash and cool the jug.
  7. Pour 100ml of cream in the jug up to the lower level mark.
  8. Close the lid and select the “Espresso Con Panna” setting.
  9. With a non-metallic spoon, collect and pour the whipped cream on top of the coffee, and sprinkle grated hazelnuts and cocoa powder over it for the perfect finish.

Bitter Citrus Cool

Ingredients

• Il Caffè (25ml)
• 8 ice cubes (8x 30g)
• Sanbitter (50ml)
• Tonic water (50ml)
• Slice of fresh orange (20g)
• Spring of Rosemary (1 piece)

Instructions

  1. Place 3 ice cubes in the jug of your Nespresso Barista device.
  2. Brew 1 capsule of Il Caffè and pour it on top of the ice.
  3. Close the lid and select the “Iced Nitro” setting.
  4. Add 5 ice cubes and a fresh orange slice in a View Recipe glass.
  5. Pour the tonic water and Sanbitter in the glass.
  6. Pour the iced coffee over it
  7. Add a spring of rosemary around the rim of the glass and serve.
