The food menu at Stockton is probably the speakeasy’s best kept secret. It serves classic bar food, made better with premium ingredients and contemporary touches that are perfect for sharing over a cocktail and good banter—whether it’s their signature old fashioned with ice cold Terra Ostra oysters, or a crisp gin and tonic with a plate of their beer battered rock cod with curried tartare sauce that will transport you to a cool night in London. The intimate setting, with dimmed lights and plush leather seating, is perfect for catching up with friends and also makes for an impressive date spot. Most dishes, such as the salmon rillete with pink peppercorns and trout roe, truffle fat chips and cauliflower fritters, are great for sharing while their selection of burgers and sandwiches, including the spicy soft shell crab burger, roast beef sandwich and buttermilk fried chicken burger are great for a bit of self indulgence. The duck scotch egg features beautifully balanced flavours, and is rich and indulgent but not sickeningly so.
