Shiki Omakase
Shiki Omakase brings elegance into their Japanese fine dining creations.
Small and intimate, Shiki Omakase packs a punch when it comes to sophisticated and elegant Japanese fine dining. Leaving the fate of your meal to the whims of a chef might be intimidating for a novice but for a sushi connoisseur, it’s both enthralling and exciting. Keeping true to its name (which means four seasons) the large modern art installation dominating the main wall of Shiki depicts Mount Fuji with the four colours representing the four seasons. And just like the art, Shiki’s menu also changes four times a year according to the seasons. With a choice of Kappo Omakase (cooked) or Sushi Omakase (raw) the menu is further subdivided into a choice of seven courses or 10. Opening with Zensai, an Ikura dish with edible violet flowers, the meal was almost like a piece of music, with each of the 10 beautifully presented dishes building up to a crescendo and ending with a satisfying and sweet note.
IN THE KNOW
These blossom-themed pastries are almost too pretty to eat. Get into the sakura spirit with Shiki Omakase sakana caviar monaka, which combines the delectable textures of striped jack and white shrimp with gold dust and caviar.
TATLER TIP
If you are feeling fancy, order the Special Omakase, which Shiki offers occasionally depending on the availability of the seasonal ingredients from Japan. Remember to book this 10 days in advance.
