Ru Yuan

A tranquil corner of Hangzhou where traditional Jiangnan garden culture and regional cuisines take charge
Fashioned in the style of an ancient scholar’s estate, Ru Yuan is a sanctuary for Jiangnan culture and cuisine. The venue features winding stone pathways, classical pavilions, flowing streams and lush courtyard gardens that transport guests into a scene from a Chinese painting. The menu changes with the lunar calendar and the 24 solar terms, capturing peak-season ingredients including spring shoots, West Lake fish, river shrimp and local wild greens. Dishes are prepared using traditional double-boiling, steaming and gentle braising techniques, often infused with regional teas and floral essences to enhance natural aromas.
Tatler Tip
The atmosphere is distinctively unhurried, especially in the private dining rooms that look out to the peaceful gardens.
