Restaurant
Ronin
Ronin is the stylish neighbourhood restaurant perfect before or after a meal, but once you sit down you’ll want to stay the whole night
Tatler Says
Ronin continues to surprise and delight first time visitors and regulars alike from the moment the unassuming entrance doors are opened. The bar-style seating and linear décor maintains an intriguing sense of mystery, but the knowledgeable staff is welcoming without any pretention. Featuring a one-page menu, dishes are separated into three categories (raw, smaller and bigger). The focus is on seafood prepared with Japanese flavours and techniques with a changing array of seasonal ingredients. While portions may appear small, they encourage diners to experience a variety of dishes without feeling overwhelmed, but be sure to ask for recommendations if you’re unable to determine the number of dishes to order. Most options feature a strong use of Japanese seasonings and condiments highlighting subtle flavours with an appropriate punch of spice. The refined and creatively executed izakaya fare is available as a tasting menu, and optional sake or mixed alcohol flights can be added for pairing.
Tatler Tip
Although it may seem intimidating, the star of the tai sea bream karaage is the crispy and fragrant skeleton. The entire fish should be consumed and is incredibly addicting with the tosazu dip.
