Couched in the first-floor lobby of Marina Bay Sands, Rise presents an impressive, globe-trotting smorgasbord of culinary classics. Beeline for the diverse live stations, which serve solid renditions of street food staples: Shanghai pork buns with crisp crusts and juicy, bursting centres; and a surprisingly excellent laksa that is rich with coconut fragrance. While higher-tier buffets often promise surf-and-turf indulgence (and Rise delivers, with spreads of sashimi and Boston lobster, plus tomahawk prime rib carved to order), it’s the homely Asian selections that prove most addictive—elevating familiar favourites such as ayam buah keluak and meltingly tender beef cheek rendang. Those with a sweet tooth won’t be disappointed either, as the buffet boasts one of the most extensive dessert spreads in town: from mousses and meringues to cakes and live beancurd stations. Indeed, a meal here is a luxurious tour through the global street food vernacular.
