Pirata

Italian   |   $ $ $ $   |   Wan Chai, Hong Kong

A fun and unpretentious Wan Chai spot for comforting Italian classics and stylish cocktails

Pirata hits all the right notes with its hearty yet sophisticated Italian cuisine, a space outfitted with industrial décor, and impressive views from the 30th floor. Classic dishes are sometimes elevated with unexpected additions, such as the beef tartare topped with stracciatella and walnuts, or the plin ravioli filled with chicken, foie gras, and veal jus. However, the butcher’s cut—a flank steak tagliata served simply by itself and cooked to perfection— is a standout. The staff are attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, and have no trouble guiding you through the majority Italian wine list or compact but varied cocktail menu.

Tatler Tip

Although Pirata’s tiramisu is a popular favourite, we recommend finishing on a sweet note with the Nutella fondant.
