Oshino

Oshino by chef Koichiro Oshino serves sushi omakase menus which evolve with the seasons in this dramatically zen space. Sushi is individually handcrafted, starting with assertive and toothsome shari rice that’s bonded with precisely sliced neta toppings, and then presented as beautiful works of art on well-lit plates. Favourites include the signature shimofuri cut of tuna and akami zuke (marinated tuna). The chef’s offerings of silver-skinned hikarimono fish, from sardine to mackerel, further showcase his impeccable slicing techniques. These are complemented by seasonal otsumami dishes highlighting premium ingredients. While Oshino speaks little beyond naming the dishes, his wife, Motoko, completes the experience with her warm, personable and welcoming spirit of hospitality. The restaurant’s legion of fans and friends, both local and foreign, ensure that this small restaurant remains perpetually full.
