Moxie

Permanently closed   |   Central, Hong Kong

Sister restaurant of Arcane, Moxie offers the same philosophy of sustainable pescatarian dining that is as kind to the environment as it is to your wallet.

Moxie’s location is certainly humble, bisected by a busy passage inside Alexandra House; but it’s a model for conscientious dining that other restaurants would do well to heed. Moxie sources regionally from closed-loop and artisanal producers for a menu that is internationalist with no obvious cultural touchpoints—instead, the kitchen impresses with its nuanced handling of seafood and vegetables in dishes like Hokkaido scallops with escabeche, and Roscoff onion tarte fine. The largely French wine list offers a mix of biodynamic and low-intervention wines. Service is knowledgeable, though it can be difficult to catch the waiters’ attention.

Tatler Tip

Make sure to book a seat at the chef’s counter for full immersion in the head-bobbing soundtrack.
