Mango Tree is all about deliciously varied, fiery, flavourful and well-executed Thai food

It’s not hard to find Thai food in Hong Kong these days. But it’s hard to
find Thai food like the what’s on offer at Mango Tree. The eatery—which counts different locations across town—presents traditional Thai cuisine
in a refined but not pretentious environment, and does so deliciously well.
A catfish salad comes heaped with lush, deep-fried fish, cilantro, chopped cashew and fiery chillies. Lightly fried fish cakes are complex in their flavour and texture, and deliver a satisfying crunch. Then there are the curries. A red one with cod is beautifully delicate, offering the perfect balance of heat. The yellow soft shell crab hits the opposite end of the spectrum: laden in a thick, egg-based sauced, it’s rich, indulgent, so flavoursome it’s addictive. The pretty restaurant setting, all blonde wood and low hanging lights, matches the quality of the food, as does the service: friendly, attentive but never overbearing. Top it all off with one their refreshing—and rather potent—tropical cocktails, and you’ve got a perfect South East Asian experience.

Start (or accompany) your meal with one of Mango Tree’s signature cocktails – they're great to help to counter some of the spicier dishes.
