Maison Libanaise
Go for the indulgently homey skewers for sharing in an easygoing, convivial setting
Dining at Maison Libanaise, one gets the sense that the modern Lebanese spot was designed especially for get-togethers. From the cosy indoor dining space on the second floor to the al fresco rooftop illuminated by stringlights, a convivial atmosphere permeates, complete with an energetic staff and dishes made for sharing. Carnivores will appreciate the mashawi, a plate of barbecued chicken, mutton and beef on skewers, as well as lamb rack, with the meats tender to perfection, while the serving of garlic sauce layers on a tart, earthy zing. Of course, there’s no foregoing some pita bread and hummus bil tahini, a filling and homey mash of chickpea puree, tahini, lemon juice and organic olive oil. The moussaka is an excellent pick as well, thanks to the aubergine slow-cooked in an incredibly juicy tomato sauce. With more than a handful of Lebanese wine offerings, it’s also recommended to defer to your server for bottles of white, red and rose recommendations.
Tatler Tip
Keep your eyes peeled for the shelves by the stairwell, where items like Lebanese cookbooks and jars of almond-stuffed figs and dates are available for purchasing.
