Maya Kitchen welcomes the Christmas season with a special holiday feast-cum-culinary demo by the chef George Lizares of the LJC Group of restaurants.

Entitled “A Christmas Dinner Larry Would Love,” the chef George Lizares takes the Maya Kitchen’s classroom to demonstrate selected fine dishes dedicated to the late Larry Cruz. Cruz was the man behind some of the country’s acclaimed restaurants like Café Adriatico, Abe, Lorenzo’s Way, Fely J’s and many more. With the chef Lizares as the group’s corporate chef, Cruz’s legacy sustained in these restaurants as evident in its quality dishes and service.

On November 29 the Maya Kitchen presents the chef Lizares, where he would be demonstrating dishes that Larry would love and will also be perfect for this year’s holiday festivities. The list starts with Cheerful Feta and Watermelon Salad, Kingfish and Shrimps Curry in Coconut, Chicken with Three Mushrooms, and Couscous with Seven Vegetables, which are tender lamb morsels combined with chickpeas, zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes, carrots, capsicum and cabbage in a rich broth. Capping off the meal is the decadent Baklava, made with nuts, butter and orange-infused syrup served with vanilla ice cream.

The LJC Group was born out of Larry Cruz’s decision to take a career change way back in 1979, from Journalism to restaurant management. Even after his demise, the chef George Lizares and the people behind the LJC Group continue to pay tribute to the man who cannot cook yet somehow managed to permanently change the country’s culinary landscape.

“A good meal is one that satisfies all the senses. …More than just looking good, it has to taste good…match the setting… More important for me, it should be enjoyed with someone,” said Larry J. Cruz.

The culinary demonstration class is priced at 1500 pesos per person, starting from 9 AM to 1 PM. For enquiries and reservations, log on to www.themayakitchen.com or email contactus@themayakitchen.com.
