Opus Restaurant and Lounge marks its second year of success in the nightlife scene with an amazing five-course degustation menu by the skillful hands of the chef Carlo Miguel
Well-known for its modern and unique offerings, Opus Restaurant and Lounge celebrated its second anniversary with a feast of food and music. An energetic crowd of Manila’s finest, from socialites and artists to celebrities, graced the lovely event in their chic cocktail outfits. With the thrill in the atmosphere, it was like Bacchus (the god of wine) was also present that night. An abundant feasting table full of canapés varying from cheeses to hams welcomed the guests.
Entering the grand hall, you come upon three extremely long tables embellished in elegant hues of silver, white and floral patterns served as thrones of the invited. Tim Yap, one of the restaurant’s masterminds, introduced the chef Carlo Miguel on stage to speak about the event’s dishes.
The dinner proper started off with a truffled potato soup with swimmer crab and a generous serving of salad that consisted of roast pumpkin, asparagus, arugula, crispy prosciutto and creamy Parmesan dressing. A band serenaded everyone with bossa nova songs while diners enjoyed the food.
For the main course, a generous serving of crispy salmon fillet with corn pudding and succotash left every stomach full but craving for more. Next was the braised veal cheek on a bed of Paris mashed potato, mushy peas and gremolata. Before it was served, it was highlighted with a special number with dancers dressed in unique creations of the contemporary sculptor and artist Leeroy New.
Capping off the event was a chocolate hazelnut crunch cake with salty caramel sauce and crowned by the Opus logo carved in a rectangular white chocolate.
