Finally, Noma will be re-opening on February 15, 2018. Reservations for the restaurant between February and the end of April have already sold out in less than 24 hours, and currently, there are over 35,000 people on the waiting list. Here’s another way you can snag a table on opening night for you and a friend—by doing good and donating to MAD, René Redzepi’s non-profit organisation dedicated to connecting the global food community. 

The lucky winner will get to take a guest with them, and will be flown to Copenhagen and put up at a four-star hotel. Of course, there will be dinner on the opening night at Noma, and then they’ll get to return to the restaurant the next day for coffee with the Noma team and experience a behind-the-scenes tour of the restaurant’s fermentation lab and test kitchen. 

Donation packages start from US$10 for 100 entries in the competition, going up to US$10,000 for 10,000 entries plus a two-day culinary tour for two curated by Redzepi and the Noma FOH team. You could also donate other amounts to receive multiple entries plus items such as signed cookbooks, signed aprons and MAD t-shirts and tote bags. For those who want to throw their hat into the ring but don’t want to part with any cash, single entries are being taken here. 

Unfortunately, for reasons unclear, residents of Belgium, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Malta, North Korea, Singapore, Sudan, Syria, or Thailand are not eligible to participate.

FYI: a dinner at Noma with wine pairing is priced at DKK 3350 (HK$4,160 or US$360). It’s a smart fundraising scheme and, considering the hunger for a coveted spot at Noma, one that will be incredibly fruitful for the future of MAD. 

The competition begins today and closes on January 31, 2018, and the winner will be announced on February 7, 2018—just a week before the dinner, so make sure to clear your schedule and contribute now.
