The Korean wave of pop culture has been crashing the Philippine shores for a long time now, and the privilege of getting a taste of Gangnam-style Korean cuisine is simply hard to dismiss.
Gangnam is the most popular district in South Korea even before the song “Oppa Gangnam Style” rose to fame. Located in the capital city of Seoul, Gangnam is known for its wealth and high standard of living and education. Filled with great energy and vibrancy coming from the Korean population comprising its corporate world, it has been a must-go destination for tourists and locals alike.
Having a different culture of its own, Gangnam’s bars and restaurants have developed a unique style in presenting Korean dishes. Seven Corners restaurant has made available to the Filipinos this unique style by bringing in Korean chefs Kang Jiyoung and Lee Seung Ho from Grand InterContinental Parnas Seoul; and the chef Yoon Taekoo and the mixologist Kim Hyung Gyun from InterContinental Seoul COEX. Together, they have brought the fascinating dining culture of Gangnam at Seven Corners since January 3.
An array of Korean dishes is spread throughout the seven live cooking stations. Have a taste of the Korean Barbecue: thinly sliced meat with a smoky sweet flavour and eaten with lettuce wraps and spicy red pepper paste. The spread also offers a different kind of Kimchi called Geotjeori, which is prepared without fermentation. Japchae can be a favourite of those who have tongues not suitable for extreme spiciness. It is stir-fried sweet potato noodle with vegetables and green herb sauce. All-time favourite Bibimbap is also served in Gangnam style, as well as Bulgogi. An interesting dessert called Hangwa can be consumed to subdue the lingering tinge of spiciness in the mouth. It is composed of traditional rice cookies, that when eaten together with a sip of Korean ginseng tea, creates a distinct robust flavour.
A list of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks from Soju to Maesil Ade, a traditional beverage made from plum, complements the unique Korean meal. Lunch buffet costs 1657.37 pesos from Monday to Saturday and 1878.34 pesos every Sunday. Meanwhile, dinner buffet costs 1767.86 from Sunday to Thursday and 1878.3from Friday to Saturday. Discovering Gangnam at Seven Corners will be available until January 19.
