Jiak Kim House
Housed in carefully-restored conservation shophouses off Kim Seng Road, Jiak Kim House serves up modern Asian cuisine
Occupying the former Zouk site on Jiak Kim Street, Jiak Kim House arrives with an easy confidence. The soaring ceilings and striking interior design immediately draw the eye, providing a visual prelude to chef-partner Seow Tzi Qin’s modern Asian cuisine. The menu is comforting yet contemporary, balancing familiar flavours with a playful edge that elevates traditional recipes without losing their soul. Seow’s personal narrative is woven throughout the offerings. The paper-wrapped quail is a sophisticated throwback to his heritage at Union Farm, reworking their iconic paper-wrapped chicken into something more delicate. Even the dish names invite a second look; the mushroom herbal tea “macchiato”—served with dough fritters—is a clever, umami-rich take on bak kut teh. The cocktail programme is equally thoughtful—the Emperor State stands out for its bold house-infused Mao Shan Wang durian liqueur.
