Ishi
Known for its reasonably priced menus, Ishi brings the true taste of ancient Japan to diners
Tatler Says
Enter Ishi, a peaceful, hushed space where dining is an intimate and personal affair. At the restaurant, all the attention is directed toward the master chef. Seating at one of its counters is like scoring a front-row theatre ticket. You get to see the chef deftly preparing a succession of appetisers, followed by an assortment of sushi including tuna, horseshoe mackerel, yellowtail and Japanese garoupa. Each piece comes gently dabbed with wasabi and brushed with a sweet, delicate soy-based sauce. The chef is adept at preparing meat too: the Wagyu beef steak is simply seasoned with a hint of salt and served with a smattering of fragrant garlic chips on the side. From the delightful amuse bouche to the main courses, Ishi promises diners a spectacular kaleidoscope of flavours.
