Omakase restaurant on Amoy Street helmed by chef-owner Mitsutaka Sakamoto

Immerse yourself in Japan’s rich culinary tradition at Ikkagoyo, an intimate eight-seater omakase restaurant specialising in kappo-style cuisine. Helmed by chef Mitsutaka Sakamoto, this nondescript restaurant located in the back alley of Amoy Street pays homage to its heritage with wooden interiors elegantly fashioned in the style of Japanese Minka houses. The owners have even dedicated two whole pages in the menu to honour the Japanese artisans behind Ikkagoyo’s crockery, linens and furnishings. Depending on the season, the finest and freshest ingredients hailing from different parts of Japan are featured, and diners are presented with courses that pay tribute to Japanese traditions and ceremonies such as the Tanabata festival. The highlight comes towards the end of the meal, when guests are asked to select their favourite course of the night. The chosen dish will then be recreated so that guests can enjoy a different take on their favourite seasonal produce.
