Honi Honi
This tiki bar in Central is one of the most popular lounges in town, with good reason
We loved bartender Max Traverse’s drinks at Le Boudoir, and we love his new ones at Honi Honi even more. Located in a commercial building on Wellington Street, this tiki lounge is a surprise when you step inside, as the wooden décor and large terrace with lush green scenery transport you far away from the urban jungle of Hong Kong. The crowd is a fun-loving one, and it’s not unusual to see large groups of ladies out for a girls’ night. The cocktails, however, are not just for women. Even though we love the pina colada the Dark & Stormy (Gosling Black Seal Spiced rum, lime juice, homemade ginger beer and Angostura bitters), there are also more lethal concoctions available such as the Aztec Breakfast with two types of tequila, chocolate bitters and espresso. For a drink that is both a dessert and a cocktail in one, the Dark Sandy Beach with spiced rum, brown cacao liquer, fresh banana, chocolate bitters and double cream is delicious. However, most popular amongst groups or first-time visitors are the sharing cocktails such as the Honi Honi All The Way, which is served in a fresh watermelon; or the dramatic and fiery He’e Holua Volcano. Reservations are definitely recommended.
