Hazuki
This restaurant at the top of Ngee Ann City has only been open since 2022, but has already been lavished with praise thanks to its excellent service and the meticulosity of kappo chef Kenta Yamauchi.
Tucked within Orchard’s busy hub is Hazuki, a 12-seat retreat into purposeful elegance. Think luxe wood panelling, hushed tones and every single detail dialled up for intimacy. At the heart of the experience is the food, helmed by the ever-meticulous Kenta Yamauchi (formerly of Kyoto’s Michelin-starred Gion Fukushi). Each dish is crafted with the precision of an artisan jeweller, whether patrons opt for the Hare (five courses) or the Tsuki (nine courses). The Tsuki omakase flows through delicate sashimi, hand-picked crabmeat, impeccably sourced seasonal fish and a moreish A5 Miyazaki wagyu served with shaved truffle and an egg yolk dip. Service stands out for reading the room perfectly. There is space for conversation and a pace that honours each course. Presentation also matters: artisan ceramics, crystalware, cedar-wood trays, and flawless plating all speak of quiet refinement.
