Gunther's

The Art Nouveau interiors at Gunther’s are home to just a handful of tables in a dining room that’s intimate yet slightly stark and oddly quiet. Yet an extensive champagne list suggests that Gunther’s is suited to celebration, and the calibre of food—beautifully presented and put together with carefully considered flavour and texture combinations—attests to this. A number of well-loved plates have become permanent menu offerings—and guests would do well to try these dishes, which have endured for good reason. All the extras are excellent too, from free-flowing freshly baked baguettes to petit fours that include chewy canelés and distinctive truffle-flavoured truffles. Staff are accommodating and attentive throughout with never a glass unfilled or a need unmet. And speaking of glasses, the wine list is French-focused to match the menu.
