For an impressive first date: South Sea Seafood Restaurant

First impression of this place does not disappoint at all with a grand entrance bathed in lambent yellow light accompanied by a giant crab statue. What's more impressive, however, is how it offers both Western and Asian style recipes on its menu, letting you have French-style cheese-baked escargot alongside Chinese staple spicy chilli crab all in one seating. Its seafood variety is also a comprehensive one, ranging from the affordable Sri Lankan crabs to the jaw-dropping Empurau fish that can you set back RM700 per kg.

For a cosy family reunion: Fisherman's Cove, Starhill Gallery

Snuggled in the depths of Starhill Gallery's Feast Village, the fresh seafood here at Fisherman's Cove is matched by authentic fisherman ambience with makeshift nets and wooden furniture making up the decor. It is the best of seafood fine dining set in a rustic style setting. On the menu, your staples like fish, prawns, crabs and more are not short matched with attentive service by a team of wait staff who are also well-informed of the restaurant's offerings. Well cordoned off areas well lit by soft, lambent light give you great privacy for large family functions without feeling too suffocating.

For a casual afternoon brunch with friends: Southern Rock Seafood Restaurant

Brought to us by the guys who also gave us Shucked! Oyster Bar in Ben's Independent Grocer at Publika and The Magnificent Fish & Chips Bar in Changkat Bukit Bintang, fresh seafood is the focus here. And when they say fresh seafood, they mean it because there are no chicken, beef or lamb on the menu, only catch from the sea. Southern Rock has long had a reputation as a leading seafood retailer and now, it is expanding to include a dine-in restaurant right next door to its wholesale retail store. While fresh catch is the main highlight, it also has a comprehensive selection of smoked and cooked seafood, including those prepared in a fusion of styles like one of its best-sellers, mussels in our local laksa broth.

For a fun night out with the crew:  Crab Factory - Original Louisiana Boil

Some firmly believe that the only proper way to eat seafood is to dig right in and get down and dirty with your hands. Crab Factory is on that side of the fence with its menu that points the spotlight at shellfish, prepared in authentic Southern style. Almost everything on the menu is boiled or poached in delicious homely sauces, complemented by other comfort foods like fried chicken and crawfish. This place is ideal for loud laughter, long conversations and an unfiltered good time over lots of seafood served by the kg.

The experts in Japanese omakase meals, TEN has worked ingredients that make up quite the hair-raising list. Pufferfish, monster black abalone and more seasonally make an appearance on its menu. To add to the excitement, TEN consistently brings in rare ingredients from Japan subject to availability as well, which is one reason why it hasn't actually got a menu set in stone. Come here for a good authentic Japanese seafood meal with a side of rare ingredients that you'll be hard to find anywhere else.
