Steady your guts and brave your way through the manly world of protein and carbs at the Beast.

THE BIG Group's newest venture, Beast Bar & Grill at the Intermark Kuala Lumpur is all about being masculine and bold, starting with the enormous signboard fully-lit with light bulbs right outside the restaurant, daring patrons to enter for a beastly meal.
What do you think of when the word "Beast" is mentioned? Yes, meat and lots of it! So be warned that dinner at Beast is not for the faint-hearted. Judging from the menu, Beast caters to those with an appetite for manly foods but even the ladies are willing to brave this establishment for its refined culinary wonders.
Starting with an XXL sized beer bread
Our dinner at Beast starts off with a freshly baked Kilkenny beer bread that's the size of a turnip. The size might be a turn-off to some, but steady your guts and take a bite of faith. You will realise that the soft fluffy bread paired with a decent spread of butter and a spray of olive oil is an extremely appetising dish.
After a load of bread, we move on to the starters. The soft egg on polenta is a must-try with its perfectly poached egg on top of a plate of baked polenta. Its gooey and fragrant polenta paired with a fresh poach egg and fragrant parmesan cheese creates an amazing combination of texture and taste that just slides down your throat.
But for those who wants to keep their stomach for the mains, try the lighter starters like a traditional Caesar salad or the crab cake with ranch-dressed salad.

Choosing your perfect piece of steak
With a restaurant that's called "Beast", you can be sure the chef is confident with his steak. At Beast, there is a wide variety of cuts like tenderloin, ribeye to striploins or primerib. Take your picks from top breeds like the Black Angus, US Prime, Australian grain-fed, and the Master Kobe Wagyu Marble 9.
Steaks here are served unlike any other place; the Wagyu striploin comes on a wooden platter with only a slice of lemon and a side of beef jus. Sides are optional as Beast believes that a good piece of steak requires no condiments to steal the limelight.
But if a good piece of succulent 200gm Wagyu Marble 7+ is not enough for you, we recommend adding the roasted duck-fat potatoes that combines all of the sinful but delicious ingredients into one dish.
If steak is not your preferred protein, there are many other choice available in Beast. For example, try the whole roasted beer brined chicken or the whole grilled lobster that is not short of the wholesome hearty goodness you'd find in a good piece of red meat.
Tatler tip: The Cote du Rhone, E. Guigal wine's robust fruit flavours with under notes of savoury white pepper is perfect for pairing with red meat.

Indulge in the sweets
For those who are overloaded with savoury proteins and have little space for desserts, try a zesty Crepe Suzette cooked for you in a live cooking performance. The crepe is flambéd and then drizzled with tangy citrus juice and bites of fresh oranges - perfect to revitalize your palate after a feast of Beast.
As for the sweeter tooths and adventurous palates who can't get enough of the heavy loaded dishes, try the peanut butter and banana shortbread with salty caramel and vanilla ice-cream. It's as decadent as it sounds, with a great balance of sugary satisfaction and a tinge of saltiness that will send anyone to candied heaven.
