We Hongkongers are spoilt for choice when it comes to dining out. From trendy cafes to stellar all-you-can-eat dim sum restaurants and fine steak establishments, our city is a true food paradise that consistently impresses us with its diverse offerings. 

As part of the celebrations welcoming the arrival of cooler weather, many hotels and restaurants in the city have unveiled their seasonal afternoon tea sets for hungry diners to linger over delicious finger sandwiches, fancy desserts, fabulous brews, and of course, freshly-baked scones. Below, we round up the best, newest afternoon teas to try in Hong Kong right now.

1. The Langham Hong Kong

What: Treat yourself to an elegant afternoon experience for a good cause at Palm Court, The Langham Hong Kong. In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month for the third consecutive year, the elegant restaurant has launched a special “In The Pink Afternoon Tea” menu with a medley of delectable pink treats delicately crafted by executive pastry chef David Puig. For every afternoon tea set sold, the hotel will be donating $10 to support Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation’s work. 

The set offers tempting savoury dishes such as pomegranate Balik salmon sandwich, foie gras dame and beetroot tartare. On the sweet side, you’ll find Japanese pinky strawberry roll cake, signature macaron lollipop with raspberry buttercream filing, as well as scones served with Devonshire clotted cream and homemade preserves. Besides a premium selection of loose leaf teas from JING Tea, you can also pair your meal with a glass of NV brunt champagne or NV rosé champagne for some extra fizz.

Price: HK$398 for one and HK$688 for two with tea; HK$588 for one and HK$988 for two with a glass of NV brunt champagne each; HK$608 and HK$1,028 for two with a glass of NV rosé champagne each.

2. Artisan Lounge

What: Coffee lovers, this one's for you. This season, Artisan Lounge at K11 Musea is partnering with the award-winning coffee brand Ninety Plus Coffee to bring a new twist to their artistic all-day tea sets, where guests can expect a next-level afternoon tea experience with bespoke coffee pairing.

Served on a beautiful three-tiered stand, the specially-curated tea set features a range of sweet and savoury delights to pair with the distinct flavour profiles of the coffee. It begins with the Gesha Juliette ice drip coffee, which goes perfectly with cucumber sandwiches, ham and melon, followed by the earl-grey infused Caturra natural coffee to accompany sweet treats such as marron chocolate and traditional lemon madeleine. Lastly, the Panama Ninety Plus Perci Gesha pour-over is served to add extra dimensions to the flavours of desserts such as sweet corn lollipop and tiramisu.

3. Grand Hyatt Hong Kong

What: Head over to Tiffin at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong to get a taste of five-star luxury and indulge in an enticing array of sweet and savoury treats, all set against the backdrop of the restaurant’s elegant furnishings and floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing panoramic views of the city.  

Highlights of the restaurant’s new autumn-inspired afternoon tea menu include savoury bites such as prawn and lobster sub in a charcoal bun, wagyu beef pastrami, homemade foie gras terrine, to name just a few. Those with a sweet tooth will be satisfied with bit-sized delicacies such as chocolate hazelnut acorn, caramel apple financier cake and raspberry coconut mushroom. The best part? What: In collaboration with Korea’s leading luxury beauty brand Sulwhasoo, Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers is offering a new afternoon tea set to nourish your body and delight your tastebuds throughout the cooler season.

Taking inspiration from Sulwhasoo’s limited edition holiday products and the signature precious skincare ingredient ginseng, the set features an assortment of treats prepared by the hotel’s executive pastry chef Andy Yeung and chef de cuisine of Oyster & Wine Bar, Oscar Chow. Think ginseng and foie gras choux, kimchi oyster, bulgogi beef, honey mousse with white peach, airy egg white soufflé, walnut puff, along with homemade scones.

Guests can choose to pair their meal with teas from TWG tea or freshly brewed coffee. 5. Kowloon Shangri-La Hong Kong

What: Whether you’re a pastry or beauty enthusiast, you’ll be delighted to see Kowloon Shangri-La's exclusive afternoon tea collaboration with Darphin, a premium French skincare brand. Inspired by the three key natural ingredients from the brand’s signature product—Intral Redness Relief Soothing Serum—the set showcases an elegant spread of delicacies infused with skin-soothing ingredients such as chamomile and hawthorn that are perfect for the cooler weather.

Presented in an Instagram-worthy golden cage, guests will enjoy savoury bites such as duck liver with hawthorn and cherry chutney and chamomile tea poached lobster with olive oil caviar. Make sure you save room for sweets, including the chamomile jelly and freshly whipped vanilla cream over shortbread, and hawthorn milk chocolate ganache. 6. Le Méridien Cyberport

What: Chocolate lovers rejoice—Le Méridien Cyberport is joining hands with the renowned chocolate maker, Valrhona, to satisfy your sweet tooth with a decadent afternoon tea set.  

In addition to a delicious selection of savouries such as home-smoked salmon with herb cucumber cheese roulade, wasabi king crab and truffle quail egg with caviar sandwich, guests can also sample dainty sweets including dark chocolate raisin scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam, strawberry chocolate brownie, dark chocolate chestnut mousse and many more. 7. La Rambla by Catalunya

What: The popular Spanish restaurant La Rambla has launched a luxurious afternoon tea set with a spread of caviar-infused savoury delights and sweet pastries to excite the most discerning palates this season.

There are two caviar options for diners to choose from, including the finest grains or pearls of caviar by leading food brand Kaviari, and salmon roe to complement the Spanish creations by executive chef Ferran Tadeo. The set includes savoury items such as smoked salmon bao with pickles, homemade brioche bread with French butter, patatas with cream cheese and chives, and more. You’ll also enjoy dainty desserts including churros with salted caramel, Swiss roll with chocolate and whipped cream, as well as strawberry tart. For drinks, choose among a selection of freshly brewed loose-leaf teas or opt for the special Elephant Grounds OG Blend coffee.

8. JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong

What: If indulging in a wide selection of delectable treats with panoramic views overlooking the harbour sounds like your idea of a leisurely afternoon, you won’t want to miss the new tea set presented by JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong. 

The hotel is collaborating with luxury skincare brand Natura Bissé to launch a special tea set with treats inspired by the brand’s Diamond Collection. Looking both delicious and elegant, the set includes savouries such as abalone tart, mango lobster salad with caviar, tiger prawn spring roll, as well as sweet pastries featuring fresh ingredients that promote an anti-ageing effect. Think rose petal lychee crémeux with honey and vanilla custard, green tea and yuzu macaroon with hazelnut pearl, and green apple cream with pineapple kale confit. 

The afternoon tea set is complete with a choice tea or coffee, and you can also add HK$100 for a glass of Moët & Chandon champagne to elevate your dining experience.

9. Monsoon

What: A newly opened South East Asian restaurant helmed by reputed chef Will Meyrick, who is best known for his devotion and unique take on Asian cuisine, Monsoon has launched a new afternoon tea set for you to sample the very best flavours and traditions of that vibrant region this season.

Served on a beautiful birdcage stand, the teatime treats include softshell crab rice paper rolls, caramelised pork belly, chicken and prawn balls with smoked chilli mayo and seared scallop with green nahm jim sauce. You’ll also find a tantalising line-up of sweets including passionfruit cheesecake, pandan custard cream puffs and fresh fruit tarts.

The set is also accompanied by a selection of fine teas, such as mango and papaya Honeybush tea, Osmanthus-roasted oolong, and many more. Guests can also add HK$38 for a glass of picture-perfect mocktail, Let's Sling Singapore; a refreshing Betel Gin and Tonic; a glass of sparkling wine; or a draught beer for a truly indulgent afternoon tea experience.
