Takeaway desserts and dairy-free cakes round up this week's dining updates

With chances of evening dine-ins and bars re-opening over the festive Christmas holidays looking unlikely, the industry is doing everything it can to still serve us a much-needed celebration, albeit at home. It is inevitable to feel discouraged by the current circumstances, but we remain hopeful that the city's restaurants will continue to bring a smile to our faces in any way that they can.

Central's Shady Acres Launches New Lunch Menu

Soho's Shady Acres rolls out a new lunch menu this week, available daily from noon to 6:00 pm. Newly-appointed executive chef Darnell Fields, formerly of Frank's, dishes up a set menu that begins with a handful of small dishes including pork meatball with red sauce; roasted carrots with bourbon honey glaze and lemon yoghurt; and devilled eggs with crabmeat and more. Guests can choose a main course from three options, including spaghetti vongole, Impossible cheeseburger, and seared sea bass with romesco sauce. The menu includes a soft drink of choice, and is priced at HK$180 per person. A la carte dishes and happy hour drinks are available.


Lucale Presents White Truffle Menu This December

Sai Ying Pun's Lucale's new white truffle dishes are now available as part of the restaurant's takeaway options. Highlights include Scottona beef tartare with 63-degree slow-cooked egg and puffed rice; pumpkin cream with 63-degree egg and Avezzano potato foam and homemade egg tagliolini with white truffles. Guests can also order the restaurant signature Caesar Salad Revisited, various pasta dishes and La Bistecca 'Rangers Valley' con Osso, a one-kilo rib steak served with roasted lard potatoes, eggplant and creamed spinach.

Mott 32 Celebrates Christmas With A Chinese Twist

From now until December 30, Maximal Concepts' Mott 32 celebrates the holiday season with a three-course takeaway menu featuring a barbecued turkey, prepared in the style of Peking duck. The show stopping dish is served in three different ways, including sliced and served with pancakes and condiments; minced turkey on prawn crackers; and shredded turkey salad with greens, pickles, and cranberry dressing. The Peking turkey menu is priced at HK$1,880 per set and is ready for pickup at the restaurant with one-day advanced reservation. 


Sai Ying Pun's Test Kitchen Launches Festive Delivery Menu

Test Kitchen in Sai Ying Pun is presenting two festive menus for delivery this holiday season. Prepared by the private dining space's resident chef Jimmy, the menus showcase the chef's flair on reinventing traditional Christmas offerings in these offerings. A simpler menu features homemade black miso bread with chicken liver and Nicoise salad to start, followed by Christmas ham, roasted whole turkey with sides and trimmings, and Christmas pudding with vanilla sauce as dessert. The sharing menu for eight is priced at HK$1,088 per person. Alternative, Test Kitchen's second Christmas menu offers more fine dining dishes such as homemade sourdough with vanilla butter; foie gras ravioli with truffle; artichoke and cauliflower risotto with parmesan cheese; and a choice of main between deep-fried turkey roll with baby carrot and A5 wagyu ribeye with potato gratin and truffles, as well as Christmas pudding with vanilla sauce to finish. The exclusive fine-dining Christmas menu is priced at HK$1,580 per person with a minimum order of six persons. Both menus are available for online order

Tiffany Blue Box Cafe Launches New Takeaway Desserts

Tiffany Blue Box Cafe launches a collection of desserts for takeaway this December. The lifestyle cafe's new dessert set features four varieties of the cafe's signature desserts including the Petit Blue Box (bergamot rose mousse with raspberry and strawberry filling); caramel popcorn chocolate tart; chestnut cream cake; and New York cheesecake. The takeaway set is priced at HK$298 per set. Alternatively a large format Blue Box Celebration Cake mirrors Tiffany's blue box design, while the interior showcases layers of salted caramel mousse, white sesame mousse and chocolate chiffon cake. The Blue Box celebration cake serves five to eight persons and is priced at HK$588 each. Both dessert items are available for pick-up with 48-hour advanced reservation at Tiffany Blue Box Cafe at +852 2362 9828


New Dairy-Free Cakes And Vegan Pastries From The Cakery

The Cakery is presenting a new array of cotton cakes, which are similar to soft and airy chiffon cakes but baked in a round cake tin rather than a ring-shaped baking tin.The health-oriented cake shop offers four flavours in its initial launch: chocolate, black sesame, caramel, and blueberry. All dairy-free cotton cakes are priced at HK$480 each. Aside from new cakes, The Cakery also renews its takeaway treats selection, including vegan pastries such as Impossible tomato danish; pain aux raisins; as well as ham and Emmental cheese pastry, a new non-vegan option at The Cakery.


Mr And Mrs Marshmallow Pop-Up At Interval Coffee Bar

On December 12 and 13, the Mr and Mrs Marshmallow Nordic pastry pop-up is back. Presented by Arbor's Eric Raty and his wife Can, the duo will showcase a series of sweet treats such as chocolate chip cookies, hazelnut coffee biscuits, and a Christmas special chocolate ginger cake. Interval will offer a selection of Nordic beers and Mead, a Scandinavian fermented honey wine, as well as exclusive geisha coffee sourced from Copenhagen's Coffee Collective micro roastery. The Mr and Mrs Marshmallow pop-up runs from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on December 12, and from 12:00 pm to 6:00pm on December 13.
