It consists of the usual favourites but presented with a slight modern twist—such are the thinly sliced kampachi doused with truffle soy sauce; pristine seafood salad enriched with onsen egg, lobster and abalone; and California roll studded with crab, avocado and tobiko.

A Mother’s Day celebration within the city but away from the maddening crowd calls for a meal at Wakanui, located at Marina One. The team ensures it’s worth the trip with an extravagant surf and turf menu. Before that, the chefs will whet the appetite with hearty green asparagus and fennel soup accompanied by homemade garlic bread slathered with Wagyu beef fat.

The soup is light enough so mum can enjoy the mains, starting with the mouth-watering salt-baked isaki (Japanese grunt fish) wrapped with lotus leaf.
