More than 60 venues around Hong Kong are taking part in Coffee For Cats, where HK$5 is donated to Peta from every purchase of a dairy-free coffee

Plant-based milks are undoubtedly part of the mainstream now, with any cafe worth their salt offering at least one dairy alternative, whether it’s soy, oat or nut milks. The options are welcome among not only the lactose-intolerant, but those who choose not to consume animal products at all; not least Peta, the animal rights association best known for their eyebrow-raising publicity stunts and fervent campaigning to end the suffering of animals around the globe.

This October, the group are bringing back their Coffee For Cats campaign, in association with David Yeung’s Green Monday platform. The premise is simple—head to any of the participating cafes and restaurants between 23 and 30 October to order a plant-based Peta coffee and HK$5 will be donated to the organisation, to support their ongoing work. The venues have been tasked with creating their coffees using Barista Blend oat milk from Califia Farms, or other plant-based milk brands.
