Tradition meets innovation in Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong’s latest mooncake collection

Mid-Autumn Festival is all about reunion, a sentiment that guides every gathering and every dish shared. The mooncake is one of the most representative treats of this traditional festival, and Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong has unveiled its latest collection just in time for your celebrations.

From time-honoured signatures and a new creation by Chinese restaurant Lung King Heen to the debut of a new mochi mooncake flavour, these are the treats you’ll want to try from Four Seasons Hotel this Mid-Autumn Festival.

Each year, executive Chinese chef Chan Yan Tak of Lung King Heen reinterprets a traditional recipe through Cantonese craftsmanship. This year, Chan and his team turned to the classic five-nut mooncake to present the Lung King Heen mixed nuts mooncakes with candied citrus. The filling is an assortment of toasted nuts and seeds, and is lifted by the tanginess of Chiu Chow-style preserved citron, which brings a mellow yet aromatic depth to the classic treat.

Also available in the traditional line-up is the white lotus seed paste mooncake with black truffle and salted egg yolk, an umami creation that balances the sweetness of white lotus seed paste with the earthiness of black truffle and the savoury richness of salted egg yolk.

Returning signatures also feature, including the ever-popular cream custard mooncakes with toasted pine nuts, which pair velvety custard with the subtle smokiness of toasted pine nuts, while the preserved egg and pickled ginger mooncake reimagines the Cantonese century egg pastry.

Beyond traditional offerings, Four Seasons Hotel is also offering its signature mini mochi mooncakes. New this year are the mini mochi custard mooncakes, a soft and chewy creation with a velvety custard centre, available in boxes of four or as part of the Four Seasons Mooncake set, which also includes the classic white lotus seed paste mooncake with double salted egg yolk.

Traditional mooncakes are available in boxes of six or in an assorted box featuring two pieces each of three flavours from HK$628. Beyond classic pastries, the Vintage 2009 Mellow pu’er tea cake offers a lighter festive alternative, available from HK$438 each.
