Put your post-Paris Olympics salivating at rest with these bakeries offering rich chocolate muffins oozing with gooey chocolate

The self-proclaimed “muffin man” Henrik Christiansen’s affinity for the chocolate muffins at the Olympic Village cafeteria has sparked an internet fixation, or should we say, obsession, with this decadent treat.

It all started when Christiansen rated the muffin an “11 out of 10” in a Tiktok video, before the muffin became the pièce de résistance of the Olympic Village cafeteria. Many athletes have since taken to Tiktok to film ‘taste test’ videos describing the muffin as extremely soft and moist, with rich dark chocolate and a gooey chocolatey middle that is best eaten warm. Even Singapore’s very own swimmer Quah Jing Wen initially posted that she didn’t “want to steal them from” Christiansen, before she snuck a few for her family to try.

We’re sure you also haven’t been spared from chocolate muffin cravings following the Paris Olympics, but where can you find this decadent treat on the island? Tatler Dining answers your humble gourmand prayers with this list of bakeries offering their renditions of chocolate muffins that are as good (or even better!) as the ones served in the Olympic Village cafeteria.

No conversation about muffins in Singapore is complete without mentioning AJ Delights. The muffin’s perfectly crisp exterior opens to a soft and chewy inside that is said to be lighter than a muffin, providing a perfect bite every time.
