Cover The Bin 707 and Grange 2019

Dutton, Penfolds’ country of origin winemaker, takes us through the renowned winery’s 2023 collection, including two highly-prized wines

Magic happens at Penfolds’s spiritual home of Magill Estate in the heart of Barossa Valley. Heralded as one of Australia’s foremost wineries and cherished by collectors worldwide, Penfolds’s newest 2023 collection explores the facets of its distinctive house style across wines from Australia, France and California. There are wines to suit every palate here, but two are shining beacons of the winery’s flair—the Bin 707, and the Grange 2019 vintage, each revealing more of their characters with every sip.

The Bin 707 and Grange lines are already a collector’s favourite, but this year’s releases are exceptional. The Bin 707, for instance, shows the beauty of the Coonawarra harvest on its generous nose and palate, while the Grange 2019, the 69th consecutive release, declares its superiority with its richness and smoothness. To find out more, Tatler Dining writer Ethan Kan spoke to country of origin winemaker Stephanie Dutton about what makes the 2023 collection, and these two special wines, tick.
