A world first and a Hong Kong exclusive, The Macallan Room is a new sanctuary for those seeking to immerse themselves in the world of whisky

The drama of the Scottish highlands is a sight to behold, and the whiskies birthed from their historic distilleries a gift to the world. Among them, The Macallan is an icon and a trailblazer in the realm of single malt Scotch whiskies, its influence and reach finding its way to all corners of the globe. This summer, the extraordinary journey culminates in a world first for The Macallan, with the launch of their new brand space set in the heart of Hong Kong, welcoming a whole spectrum of single malt enthusiasts and connoisseurs.

The Macallan Room is a discreet destination within K11 Musea, a tribute to the great whiskies of the Scottish Highlands and a place where discovery, curiosity and appreciation is encouraged. Combining the best elements of a traditional retail store with that of an immersive brand experience, the luxurious space is full of tasteful details and opportunities for exploration: from the  intimate bar over which guests can taste the spectrum of The Macallan, to the displays of rare and historic whiskies that tell the story of the distillery.

In a space reminiscent of a luxurious drawing room, both whisky novices and single malt aficionados are invited to take a journey through sensory, educational and inspirational experiences that will include cocktail receptions, private tastings, whisky education workshops and appreciation sessions.

In a time where travel is disrupted, The Macallan Room also serves as a proxy to the Scottish highlands, enabling Hongkongers to immerse themselves in the world of single malts in a custom-built environment. “What we wanted to do is bring The Macallan distillery to our consumers. This is the first room that we’ve opened globally, and we’ve been able to look at every single detail,” says Jaime Martin, Managing Director of Edrington Hong Kong & Macau. His favourite element of The Macallan Room is the back bar, which houses more than 80 bottles of The Macallan Sherry Oak and The Macallan Rare Cask in a dramatic arch that soars over the heads of those seated.

Highlights at The Macallan Room in Hong Kong include the displays of fine and rare whiskies, such as The Macallan 72—one of only 600 bottles worldwide, housed in a custom-designed Lalique Genesis Decanter—as well as The Masters Decanter series, featuring natural colour and sherry seasoned oak casks. But there is always something to be discovered at every visit—thanks to the presence of The Macallan’s brand ambassador, Patricia Byott, and her staff, who are looking forward to sharing a dram and divulging the stories of The Macallan to whisky enthusiasts one-on-one.

“The Macallan Room is an amazing platform for us to really delve into the story of The Macallan and immerse them in our journey,” she says. Whether you have never tried whisky in your life or have spent your life dedicated to the dram, The Macallan Room welcomes you.
