The latest addition to the M Collection is The Macallan M Copper. It pays tribute to the single malt’s curiously small spirit stills, which are essential to crafting each bottle of The Macallan. The Qube at PMQ will play host to the launch of M Copper in Hong Kong
One of the most highly respected whiskies around the world, The Macallan’s range of flavours are bold, rich and commanding. The unveiling of the Macallan M Collection is therefore understandably thrilling for whisky connoisseurs.
This existent trio of limited-release single malt whiskies is the result of a collaboration between three masters of their crafts: creative director of advertising agency Baron & Baron, Fabien Baron; French glass art company Lalique; and The Macallan. The M Collection is founded on the distillery’s Six Pillars which make The Macallan distinct: natural colour, mastery, curiously small spirit stills, the estate, exceptional oak casks, and sherry seasoning.

The first Macallan M release celebrated the single malt’s natural colour, and was showcased in a Lalique crystal decanter as exquisite as the unique Scottish spring water it’s made from. Next was The Macallan M Black, dedicated to its mastery. Rare, black-ended casks that had held peated spirits were used to mature the whisky, which was then bottled in a smoky obsidian-coloured Lalique crystal decanter.
The latest addition to the M Collection is The Macallan M Copper. It pays tribute to the single malt’s curiously small spirit stills, which are essential to crafting each bottle of The Macallan. A pivotal point in the whisky’s creation is its being refined in small copper stills. It’s here that the whisky gets its bold character and richness. M Copper is the vibrant colour of spun gold, and creamy and honeyed on the palate, with licks of fruit on the nose. It is presented in a copper-hued, handcrafted Lalique crystal decanter, channelling the glint of the stills themselves.

The Qube at PMQ plays host to the launch of M Copper in Hong Kong through July 5. Welcoming visitors into the event space is a light installation that snakes from the entrance to the opening gallery to an inner atrium which is accented by a burnished copper wall. Here, the three bottles from the M Collection are on display for guests to admire from all angles. Further into the central gallery is a bar setup that takes inspiration from the M Collection’s special releases. Crystal-clear glassware is set amongst black flooring and walls, while copper pieces accent the corners of the space.
This special event featuring the M Collection reflects the pride taken in The Macallan’s dedication to the Six Pillars: elements that are not only the building blocks of the brand but also the guiding principles for the age-old craft of whisky-making as it enters a new world.
