Single-malt lovers and collectors are in for a rare treat

To pay homage to the past while using your learnings and heritage to inspire the future is a task that The Macallan has taken to heart. In fact, their newest release, The Red Collection, effortlessly captures The Macallan’s deep respect for craftsmanship and quality.

This unique line is imbued with the power of the colour red and the pigment's rich history– a storied past to do with royalty, power, and luxury. The bold hue has deep and long-standing significance for the brand, dating back to 1824 with the man who founded The Macallan, for Alexander Reid’s name in Scots actually means ‘the red one’.

Artfully distilled, aged, and nurtured over time, The Red Collection features 40, 50 and even 60-year-old The Macallan blends, which are some of the oldest expressions by this time-honoured brand. With a limited release, only a few will be able to savour these prized possessions.

To further celebrate The Macallan’s fruitful history and powerful legacy, The Red Collection features an even more remarkable trio of high-aged guest releases: The Macallan 71 Years Old, The Macallan 74 Years Old, and The Macallan 78 Years Old. These once-in-a-lifetime single malts are among the world’s most-aged Scotch whiskies in the world, with the 74- and 78-year-olds being the oldest ever released by The Macallan. Rare, coveted, and a collector's dream– these guest releases are truly bottles to cherish and indulge in.

“Created from some of the world’s oldest and rarest casks, it is an incredible privilege to have crafted The Red Collection,” says Kirsteen Campbell, the brand’s first-ever female master whisky maker and current master whisky maker.

These amber-hued liquids have been nurtured by time in The Macallan’s intriguingly small copper stills, and were expertly matured in the best oak casks to produce the finest single-malt creations, fostered by exquisite talents and generations of whisky makers who treat their craft as art.

Even the way The Red Collection is packaged is refined, elegant and luxurious. Bottles are delicately encased in an oak box that is made of the same material as the actual casks the scotch is aged in. Each one is swaddled by plush, red leather from Bridge of Weir Leather, which creates upholstery for leading luxury car brands worldwide. To make The Red Collection even more collectable, each permanent release of the 40, 50 and even 60-year-old The Macallan blends were signed by Kirsteen Campbell and the 71, 74, and 78-year-old The Macallan blends were signed by Sarah Burgess.

“Each precious drop offers a unique opportunity to explore The Macallan’s whisky making legacy. The incredible elegance and rich flavours of the expressions that form The Red Collection are a direct result of the craftsmanship, knowledge, and skills nurtured by our master whisky makers, past and present,” she explains.
