Industry veterans Sandeep Hathiramani and Gagan Gurung have joined forces to present a new cocktail bar with a twist

Is the trend for high-octane cocktails about to give way to a lighter, more refreshing way of drinking? Set to open in Central’s H Code in the height of summer, Tell Camellia is a new drinking den that focuses on using tea—sourced from all around the world—in their cocktail infusions, and the promise is a selection of contemporary creations that highlight the flavour of the brew.

Co-founders Sandeep Hathiramani and Gagan Gurung are yet to release more information about the menu or venue, but given their backgrounds it’s an opening that is piquing the curiosity of the drinking community. Hathiramani is a co-founder of The Bar Awards HK & Macau as well as Gin Festival HK (launching later this August) , and until recently the deputy general manager of Proof & Co (an independent luxury spirits company that has consulted on bar projects such as Singapore’s 28 Hong Kong Street). Gurung brought flair to his cocktail creations at Zuma and Fang Fang, and isn’t afraid to use unusual ingredients in the mix. Together the pair have tapped on a bar concept that is appealing and approachable enough and, at the same time, challenging—we’re looking forward to seeing how the drinks balance the subtleties of various teas across the spectrum.

Tell Camellia is targeting to open by the end of July 2019.
