Conceived by a team of florists, this new cafe also espouses a low-carbon and flexitarian diet
Much like a hundred flowers blooming, cafes have continued opening in droves across Hong Kong as we cross over into the spring season. The latest to bud is Natura, an airy, minimalist venue in Wan Chai that takes its flowers seriously.
Opened by local floral design studio Origami Florist, the whitewashed space acts as a blank canvas for seasonal floral installations that change quarterly, with the first exhibition, titled 'The Droplets of Sakura', comprised of clouds of dried flowers in varying shades of pink and rouge that hang above the heads of caffeine seekers. Designed to spark conversations about a low-carbon lifestyle, the works of Origami Florist can also be purchased at a counter by the entrance for those who want to bring a bit of the Natura's botanical art home with them.

On the coffee front, guests can choose from the signature soy milk latte made using single-origin Ethiopian Shakiso beans, a hand drip utilising the Ninety Plus Barú Caturra blend, and Uji matcha and hojicha lattes.
Meanwhile, the food menu, put together by chef Wong Yu-yeung, advocates flexitarianism—for this reason, beef is absent, banished for the high greenhouse gas emissions in its production, while plant-based cuisine is given its due in the spotlight. Star dishes include cloud egg bagel with house-made yuzu Hokkaido cream cheese, pork ribs with coffee glazed sauce, and fried Niigata chicken. For those with a sweet tooth, Natura also offers a hojicha waffle with Hokkaido cream, mochi and mango, as well as an unconventional charcoal waffle with taro paste, pork floss and salty egg yolk. A number of elaborately decorated pastries can also be had, from the Chocolate Timber, which resembles a wooden log, to the Zen, which could easily be mistaken for stacked pebbles.
