MO Bar in Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur is having a special promotion throughout the month of August centred around The London Nº 1 gin.

To commemorate this, the bar has created three cocktails to bring out the best of this blue spirit – an orange negroni, a chamomile martini and a light mix called the mandarin.

Distilled in small batches, this uniquely blue hued gin is a result of juniper berried macerated with gardenia flowers, the use of 12 botanicals and quality grain.

Because of this, the gin gives a nice floral bouquet on the nose and is incredibly smooth and elegant on the palate despite sitting at 47 percent abv (alcohol by volume).

Orange Negroni

This classic cocktail gets a blue upgrade at MO Bar without sacrificing any of the core ingredients that make a negroni. Light on the nose with a feint orange twist, the bar's negroni has a well rounded body with a taste that isn't too bold. This lighter version of a negroni is easy to enjoy, making for an accessible entry point for those looking to dip their toes into this classic choice.

The Mandarin

A drink that skews more towards pleasing a gentler palate, this easy-to-enjoy cocktail is light, balanced and fruity. Made of cointreau, lychee juice, Hugel Gentil white wine and The London Nº 1 gin, drinkers will experience a light taste of white wine that hits the palate first before the taste of floral gin and a refreshing lychee juice completes the cocktail's flavour profile. It's undoubtedly easy to drink, making it suitable as a lunch or late afternoon companion when at the bar.

Chamomile Martini

Mellow with a floral taste that comes from both the gin and the presence of chamomile, this cool drink is great for substituting the tea part of afternoon tea, pairing well with both sweet and savoury light bites. The gin's smooth taste and aromatic bouquet makes for yet another drink that falls on the light side of the taste spectrum, making it easy to recommend as a drink to start the day with.
