The recognition also affirms the importance of excellent service during these uniquely challenging times for the food and beverage industry

In the lead-up to the reveal of Asia’s 50 Best Bars for 2021, organisers have announced Singapore’s MO Bar has been conferred the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award, voted for by Asia’s 50 Best Bars’ 220-member academy, who were each asked to name the one institution that has provided the best hospitality experience in the last 18 months.

“In the midst of these extremely challenging times for our industry, the MO Bar team is honoured to be awarded the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award and the acknowledgement by our industry peers,” said bar manager Adrian Besa. “This recognition reaffirms all of our team’s hard work and dedication to providing exceptional service and creating moments of delight at MO Bar and Mandarin Oriental, Singapore,” he notes.

This is the first in a series of special awards to be announced in the weeks leading up to the digital countdown of the annual list on May 6. It may be a new award, introduced only last year, but as Mark Sansom, content editor for Asia’s 50 Best Bar, asserts, a particularly important one, as service excellence is even more vital in today’s climate.

He adds: “The way MO Bar personalises its guest experience is second to none. Visitors to the bar will receive a bespoke programme of ‘treats’, which not only add a sense of theatre, but also shows patrons how valued their customer is.”

This is commitment to improving the customer experience includes a recently introduced interactive digital menu to complement the in-bar experience. Featuring the bar’s Volume Three menu (launched in November 2020), which focusses on international bartenders and their creations, the website’s cocktail navigator for example offers quick insight into how the drinks were designed.

Inspired by the rich culture of Asia’s ports and the travellers who journey between them, these menus also invites guests to experience the rich culture and history of the region.
