Explore the finest the Cognac region has to offer with the Martell Single Cru collection

Martell has introduced the Martell Single Cru collection to Malaysia, bringing with it an exploration of the Cognac region like never before. For the first time in Martell’s 300-year history, each cognac in its newest collection spotlights the eaux-de-vie of specific terroirs. Authentic expressions of terroir are at the forefront of the Single Cru collection, celebrating the diversity of the Cognac region while showcasing only the best of each cru.

Crafted by cellar master Christophe Valtaud, the eaux-de-vie chosen for this collection was meticulously selected, with only the most precise aromas, personalities, and ageing potentials being selected. The collection will be fortified over time, with each new cognac being released depending on its exclusivity.

The Discovery Edition provides an excellent introduction to the world of terroir-driven cognac. Each bottle houses distinct flavour profiles and aromas, platforming the distinct personalities of three cognac crus— Fins Bois, Borderies, and Petite Champagne.

Martell Single Cru Fins Bois is vibrant and fragrant, making it lush on the palate, thanks to the region’s signature fruit-forward eaux-de-vie. Meanwhile, the intense and spicy Martell Single Cru Petite Champagne brims with warmth and nutty accords attributed to this terroir’s chalky soil.

The full and fruity Martell Borderies, from the signature cru of Martell, lies somewhere between the other variations in this release, with a distinct sweetness, subtly floral profile, and smooth finish. Only a limited number of Martell Borderies bottles will be released because of the rarity of eaux-de-vie sourced from this terroir

The Single Cru Collection, with its Aged Edition, spotlights only the most prestigious crus of the Cognac region—Borderies and Grande Champagne. Each selected eaux-de-vie stands not only as a distillation of terroir but also as a showcase of Martell’s ageing process. Bottles in this edition celebrate how eaux-de-vie evolves over time and matures into uniquely rich and aromatic cognacs.

Martell Single Cru XO unveils the power of ageing processes. Known for its chalk and limestone soils, Grande Champagne is renowned for its pepper and red fruit-accented eaux-de-vie. While typically robust when young, this eaux-de-vie has been allowed to reach its highest potential in Martell Single Cru XO. With notes of nuts and dried fruits, its woody overtones create a harmonious balance of intensity and fruitiness. Martell Single Cru XXO, on the other hand, expresses the complexities of Borderies terroir and brims with luscious fruit notes.

The collection culminates in Martell Single Cru Borderies 1999. This bottle brings together terroir and year, representing the purest expression of Borderies and the rarest qualities of nature in a single cognac. Challenging climate conditions in 1999 resulted in lower harvests at Gallienne estate, a vineyard emblematic of the Martell family, but produced far rarer grapes.

Immediately after distillation, this eaux-de-vie began ageing in fine-grained oak barrels to achieve its unparalleled aroma. Released in exceptionally limited quantities straight from the last barrels of this eaux de vie, this cognac houses notes of candied fruit, linden blossom, and citrus and finishes with an extraordinary smoothness.
