These brands have created interesting designs to welcome the Year of the Rabbit

In time for Chinese New Year celebrations, these limited edition spirits embrace the spirit of the festive season with creative packaging. The colour red is a main feature, and so is gold. However, there are also other colours at play. 

While some of these limited edition bottles are priced the same as the regular designs, other are priced slightly higher because they are, after all, specially created for Chinese New Year

Maison Hennessy ushers in the 2023 Lunar New Year by honouring not just the Rabbit but its entire Chinese zodiac compatriots. The artwork is created by renowned contemporary artist Yan Pei-Ming and it symbolises of togetherness in diversity across generations, geography and families.

The Johnnie Walker Blue Label and John Walker & Sons XR 21 are decorated with stylish yet elegant designs this Chinese New Year. Working with Shanghai-based designer, Angel Chen, the designs bring to life the vibrant spirit of the Rabbit, which is seen leaping across the bottle of the Johnnie Walker Blue Label box. Meanwhile, she illustrates the lucky goldfish for the John Walker & Sons XR 21 bottle.

Maison Martell worked with Christoph Niemann, a famed German artist, author and illustrator, to produce a series of eye-catching, limited edition designs. For the Martell Noblige, the artist pays homage to the East and the West using the symbol of the swift rabbit.

The VSOP features a graphic style inspired by the traditional Chinese tangram puzzle. Meanwhile, he highlights the complexity of cognac via vibrant water droplets that recall the eaux-de-vie that go into the Cordon Bleu for the label. The designs intends to convey the brand's unique combination of heritage and modernity.

Royal Salute

Continuing with the brand's "Ignite the New Year" theme, Royal Salute works with Trajan Jia for the limited edition Royal Salute 21 Year Old pack. New elements that appear on the pack include classic fans and lanterns, a bagpiping dragon, and koi fish. The flagon inside is in auspicious ruby red.

Meanwhile, the brand also offers the new Royal Salute 24 Year Old Cognac Cask Finish in bright red. It features elements of the blend that represents a bridge between the East and the West, such as the Cognac vineyard and pheasant typically found across the region, the Chinese garden pagoda that symbolises wealth, the Chinese bridge that symbolises purity and unity with nature, as well as the lotus that celebrates the circle of life.

Rémy Martin introduces it limited gift collection this festive season, which is housed in a spectacular red and gold packaging. For the iconic Rémy Martin XO, its decanter is housed inside a cleverly constructed red box that opens up to look like a fan.

The VSOP, which is housed in a festive limited edition red coffret, features a specially decorated label. Meanwhile, the Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal—which commemorates the reward of excellence bestowed upon Rémy Martin by King Louis XV in 1738—is presented in a shimmering gold limited edition Harmonia gift box.

The Macallan

The Macallan A Night On Earth is a collaboration with acclaimed Japanese-French illustrator Erica Dorn. The bottle is inspired by Hogmanay, the traditional Scottish New Year’s Eve celebration, this unique single malt’s natural colour of warm ember pays tribute to the role of fire at this special time of year. Encased in a vibrant presentation box, A Night On Earth's colourful packaging design represent different elements: red for merriment, vitality, good fortune and joy; blue, reminiscent of a winter evening in Scotland, in all its peace and stillness; and amber—in tribute to the sweet aromas of soft butter and freshly baked shortbread which inspired The Macallan in the creation of this whisky.

Carlsberg celebrates the festive season with special limited-edition packaging designed by multi award-winning illustrator Feifei Ruan. The visual depicts a spring wonderland featuring eight magical rabbits transformed from the golden liquid of Carlsberg, reuniting in a beer forest. The design is embellished with koi fish, signifying luck and good fortune, flying swallows that welcome spring and new beginnings, and dragonflies symbolising harmony, prosperity and good luck. Additionally, elements of gold coins and blooming peonies symbolise wealth, prosperity, and new beginnings.
