Veuve Clicquot and iconic Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama, join hands to send the world a cheerful message with their colourful creation, My Heart that Blossoms in the Darkness of the Night. The collaboration is also to celebrate the house's new vintage, La Grande Dame 2012. The original design of the case and bottle also serves as Kusama's vibrant tribute to the La Grande Dame of Champagne, Madame Clicquot.

In 2006, for a charity auction in Tokyo, Kusama gave new life to an original portrait of Madame Clicquot using her famous polka dots pattern. For this collaboration, Kusama once again includes her signature polka dots and reimagined them as champagne bubbles that embody the new vintage.

Veuve Clicquot's choice in collaborating with Kusama extends beyond their previous work as the champagne house wanted a partner with an "iconic and committed personally", similar to the ones that made Veuve Clicquot an emblematic champagne house all those years ago. Madame Clicquot and Kusama both share similarities especially from their childhood as both women who grew up with a strict upbringing and both are familiar with the rigidity that prevailed in bourgeoise of the 19th and 20th centuries.

But despite that, both women also rose to the challenge, eventually gaining independence and finding success in their respective fields—Madame Clicquot as one of the few women entrepreneurs in the world at the time and Kusama who conquered the art world which was deeply masculine back then. This determination to beat the odds is also a message that collaboration wants to send especially during the pandemic.

The house's new vintage, La Grande Dame puts the excellence of Pinot Noir into the spotlight. The wine-making prowess lies in the blend, carefully made to achieve harmony through strength and delicacy.

The Yayoi Kusama x Veuve Clicquot collaboration is available at Watson's Wine (Hong Kong) or you can purchase it online.
