Glenmorangie’s Master Distiller hailed as world’s finest

Dr Bill Lumsden, of The Glenmorangie Company has been named Master Distiller/Master Blender of the Year at Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky 2016 awards.

As the Director of Distilling, Dr Bill oversees the creation of Glenmorangie’s single malt whisky and Ardbeg’s Islay Malt whisky. A PhD holder in biochemistry, his combination of art and science in his work was lauded by Whisky Magazine, calling him a “pioneer in the malt whisky industry.”

This latest honour comes after years of awards and recognition for the innovator. Having been named Industry Leader of the Year three times, by The Malt Advocate, last year he was awarded a Special Recognition Award for a Master Distiller/Blender, by the International Spirits Challenge. 

While Glenmorangie’s fine single malt Scotch needs little introduction to connoisseurs, Ardbeg’s Islay Malt whisky has developed a passionate cult following for its smoky, peaty and complex flavours.
