The Don Julio 194구 is a highly anticipated partnership blending the music icon’s impeccable sense of style and design with an award-winning tequila
Like a perfectly timed bass drop, the latest release by tequila giant Don Julio unveils the anticipated partnership with Peggy Gou. Dubbed as the Don Julio 194구 (pronounced “Gou”), Don Julio 1942 is set to crystallise the electronic music icon’s signature aesthetic, transforming the iconic bottle silhouette into a limited edition mint-green deep purple trophy that will have ravers reaching for their phones before they even reach for a glass.
The limited edition release is a tasteful evolution of the original Don Julio 1942 agave-plant shaped bottle, sporting a reflective holographic “194구” label with a sleek chrome cap that houses a smooth expression redolent of caramel and oak.

“When it comes to design, balance is so important. Sometimes less is more. Sometimes more is more,” says Gou, whose influence extends from Seoul’s hottest underground clubs to Mexico’s wildest stages. “I wanted to create a bottle that stops you in your tracks the moment you see it.” Each box will also contain a hand-drawn illustration with an alluring “shimmer” effect on Gou’s jewellery and nails, a detail that notes her effortless collision of haute couture sensibility and street-style audacity, plus a personal message.
In Asia, nightlife culture increasingly demands both substance and style, and the Don Julio 194구 arrives like a whispered invitation to the most exclusive afterparty. “Both Peggy and Don Julio 1942 are arbiters of celebration,” explains Jamie Hakim, global director of culture for Tequila Don Julio. “Peggy’s impeccable sense of style and design, paired with our timeless bottle and award-winning tequila, has resulted in a partnership that embodies refinement and cultural influence.”

Launching worldwide, celebrations kicked off in New York City on April 2, coinciding with the year 1942 when Don Julio Gonzalez founded Don Julio, splashing cryptic clues all over high-traffic areas in the city. The campaign features digital spotlights directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nabil Elderkin, where he “blurs the line between reality and a dreamlike nightlife fantasy”, and supporting imagery by renowned Korean photographer Hong Jang Hyun, who happens to be Gou’s longtime partner in life.
