One of the great aspects of living in Hong Kong are the two new years we celebrate, and both absolutely require the alcohol to be flowing for toasts all around. Though drinking traditions have been disrupted continuing into 2021, the bar and spirits industry has found workarounds to entice drinkers as we toast the Year of the Ox. From Chinese New Year-themed gins to festive interpretations of classic cocktails, here's what should be in your glass this season.

Dragonfly's CNY Herbal Cocktails

Best known for its stunning ceiling of upturned Tiffany glass lamps, Tai Kwun cocktail bar Dragonfly also spared no effort with its trio of Chinese New Year-themed bottled cocktails. Housed in 500ml glazed ceramic jars, the lineup comprises the Longevity (ginseng-infused gin, Suze and goji berries), Prosperity (dried mandarin peel, whiskey, vermouth and bitters), and Wellness (pomegranate macerated with dry gin, sweet vermouth and bitters). The cocktails can be bought on their own for HK$448 each, or as part of the Complete Abundance gift set (HK$1,288), which includes all three cocktails, five HK$100 dining vouchers for any S&S Hospitality restaurant, homemade cookies, and special lai see packets. COA's Fortune Manhattan

Leave it to the beloved tequila and mezcal-focused Coa to filter the atmosphere of Chinese New Year into a delicious, Mexican-inspired rendition of a classic. The special edition Fortune Manhattan subs out the traditional rye whiskey and sweet vermouth of the Manhattan for fresh tangerine, mezcal, Calvados, Punt e Mes, Ancho Chile, cacao and Luxardo Maraschino liqueur for a luxuriant, spice-tinged drink. Available at the bar or online, the Fortune Manhattan comes in a 500ml bottle for eight servings for HK$688 each.

Fok Hing Gin's Five Blessings Gin

The cheekily named Fok Hing Gin has distilled a Lunar New Year edition of its classic London dry for any Martinis or Negronis you might be drinking over the holiday. Mandarin leads the palate in a nod to the fruit's auspicious symbolism, while warm peppery notes add to a long finish. With only 250 bottles made for this run, snap one up online for HK$588.

Young Master Brewery x Yan Chim Kee CNY Beers

A prolific experimenter with new styles of beer, Young Master Brewery has stayed true to form with its latest collaboration with heritage coconut candy specialists Yan Chim Kee. The Coconut Pandan Pale Ale channels the tropical notes of sweet coconut and creamy pandan, while the Coconut Peanut Stout draws inspiration from Yan Chim Kee's coconut peanut candy to achieve a heady mix of peanut, cacao, and coffee notes. Both beers are available as part of the 'Ye Ye Yeah' CNY gift set along with a pack of Yan Chim Kee coconut candy. Find out more online here.
